2017 Lexus RX450h 12v battery replacement

Image
Following are the steps performed to replace the 12v battery in a 2017 Lexus RX450h F Sport. So open the trunk and remove the cover and towards the left of the car on the driver side is where the 12v battery is located. To remove the battery cover push the three platic pins in with your finger. Once pushed in the plastic plugs will be loose and can be pulled out.  Then removed the red plastic cover which covers the positive terminal of the battery. The first step is to remove the connector attached to the negative terminal. There is a plug which can be pulled  out   (marked in red square, in the picture below) or we can loosen the nut that is shown below. I could not figure out how to pull the plug out so I decided to unscrew the nut. Used a 1/2" wrench to remove this screw. To loosen the connector cables used a 10mm wrench. Remove the connector connected to the positive terminal next. Also removed (pulled out) the breather plastic tube which is connected on the right sid...

Vacuum Cleaner fix - Kenmore Progressive (116.59319215)

Image
Our trusted vacuum cleaner Kenmore Progressive (116.59319215) - the main attachment stopped spinning and the front light wouldn't turn on, and thus started this review/repair. So the first step is to remove the plastic covering so that the roller can be examined and cleaned. Start by removing the two screws as shown below. Once the screws are off, lower the connector module as shown below and using a flat head screw driver, dislodge the two tabs.  There are similar tow tabs on either side, so remove the top orange plastic cover from this two also using a flat head screw driver as shown below. Following is what the internals look like once the orange plastic cover is removed. The roller is held into place by the square tabs at either ends (as shown below) and the rubber belt connects the motor to the roller. In this housing we should be able to move the roller freely using our hands. If it does not move then most probably the roller is clogged due to debris/hair etc and has to be cl...

Prius 2010 headlight replacement

Prius 2010 Headlight replacement - driver side. Both the main headlight and side light on the driver side stopped working. Luckily high beam light was working. Positions of the bulbs shown below. After opening the hood getting to the bulbs and figuring out how to remove them is a little tricky. The driver side is relatively straight forward once you figure out what is what but the passenger side is very cramped and might have to take a few other elements out of the way before one can reach the bulbs. As indicated in the pictures above the main headlight bulb is a halogen bulb (and the high beam one too) and has a wider/thicker connector whereas the side lamp is a smaller regular bulb. The oritentation of the side lamp bulb is kind of up right whereas main headlight is horizontal. Turning the connector assembly quarter of a turn removes them from the slot. Remember the oritentation of the connector as you remove it as it will go back in the same way. There is only one way to remove it a...

CanAm Spyder F3T battery replacement

Image
I haven't been riding enough these days and the vehicle mostly sits in the garage. I do have it connected to a trickle charger (battery tender plus brand) but still the battery eventually stopped working. It did serve for 8 years so did live its life. I purchased the new battery off amazon and was plesantly surprised that it arrived way before the estimated delivery date. So following are the steps to remove the old and install the new. Start off by opening the frunk and removing the plastic cover and bin.  The plastic bin is held by 4 plastic rivet-like plugs. Use a flat head screw driver to pull the top part half way and then the bottom part. Wore gloves and then removed the screw attached to the negative terminal (left) first and then the positive terminal (right). Used a regular philips head scre driver. I did put painter's tape over the ends so that they do not accidentally touch anywhere. Next is to remove the rubber clamp or stap which is attached to a metal bracket whic...

Holystone HS200 RC Quadcopter won't take off

Image
I had purchased the Holystone HS200 RC Quadcopter but never had the time to learn how to fly it. I had tried to do so for a few ocassions when it was new but then it just sat on the shelf for years. Finally this year decided to test it out and it would start, but would hardly get any lift and just hit the ground. I replaced the batteries in the controller and completely charged the one in the drone but that did not help. I did connect to my phone and the camera does work. Tried to search on youtube if there were any troubleshooting videos but did not find any that very specific on this drone. While doing my own troubleshooting I tried rotating the blades by hand clockwise and anti-clockwise to see if they moved freely. The two in the front did but the two towards the back weren't moving freely. I could feel that they were bumping into something or skipping a gear as they rotated. So on a hunch decided to get a new battery and a pair set of new gears. It was hard to find parts for t...
