Cabinet Drawer Restoration
Recently my wife noticed a pool of water under one of the sinks in the master bathroom and that lead to this DIY task. So one of the the faucet's had lived its life and was leaking under the sink. I had previously replaced faucets so that was nothing new. Refer to one such faucet replacement task here.
There was a fair deal of damage to one of the drawers under the sink, so started reviewing options on fixing it. The cabinet system is the original one installed by the builder so finding a match as in a replacement drawer wasn't an option. There are many restoration videos on youtube which show a lot of different techniques and options, but I was not sure which one will work for us.
Used a hand-held oscillating saw to cut the piece off. Then looked around my wood pile to see if I could use any left over pieces from prior projects. So I found one piece which kind of fit the bill. It wasn't the correct height, but the rest of it more or less matched. So made a few cuts and glued the pieces in place. Added a couple of screws to secure and stregthen the additions.
Once the glue dried then took out the clamps and then sanded everything down. Post sanding pictures below.
Then decided to use the white trim paint that I already had to paint the new additions so that they blend in. Couple of coats of this paint did the trick.
Re-attached the metal guide and the drawer was back in action. This part of the drover is hardly seen so it doesn't matter much that the height is a little shorter.
