Lexus RX450h FSport rear wiper replacement

Lexus RX 450h (2017) rear wiper, rubber insert replacement.

Ordered the rubber insert online part # 852140E050


The first and the most important step is to find a way to get to the wiper in order to remove it. In its off or resting position its nicely tucked inside so its not possible to work on it. So turn the rear wiper switch on, then start the car by pressing the start button twice without putting your foot on the break. This will activate the wiper and and as soon as the wiper is in the position as shown above switch the car off. Now we have access to the wiper in order to remove the blade.


In order to remove the blade, lift the wiper assembly a little bit and then push down near the center connector and that will snap the blade out. 


Next bend the blade just enough to dislodge the wiper rubber from the grove holding it at one of the ends.



Slide the rubber insert out. Then remove the two metal pieces from the sides. Slide those into the new rubber insert. 


Now put the new rubber with the metal inserts back into the wiper assembley. Start with the center groves and slide it to one end. Then bend the blade slightly in order to pass it through the grove at the other end.



In order to put the blade back on just follow the reverse of what was done to pull it out.

That's it, test it out.

Decided to replace the outdoor wall light (builder grade) with a more advanced motion detector kind and following is how we went about it. Purchased the new unit on amazon .  First and formost find the breaker switch in the breaker box and switch off the power to the wall light. Then in order to remove the current or old ligth fixture, unscrew the two screws as shown in the picture below. Remove the mounting bracket and unhook the wires. GE XL44 Oven Igniter replacement

 The other day my daughter was trying to bake a flan - her very first attempt in our oven and the oven would not heat up and thus started this DIY repair. Scrolled through a few videos on youtube and learnt that  the most common problem is a burnt igniter. Did not do much of a diagnbosis if that was the case here but on hunch started to take the oven apart to see if I can get to the igniter.  First step is to remove the door. Just open it a little and then slide up or pull up towards you in order to remove it. It just slides up from the two brackets on either side. There are no screws or anything securing the door. The door is heavy so make sure to grab is firmly on both sides. Then remove the metal drawers or shelves and also slide out the bottom compartment. Prius 2010 headlight replacement

Prius 2010 Headlight replacement - driver side. Both the main headlight and side light on the driver side stopped working. Luckily high beam light was working. Positions of the bulbs shown below. After opening the hood getting to the bulbs and figuring out how to remove them is a little tricky. The driver side is relatively straight forward once you figure out what is what but the passenger side is very cramped and might have to take a few other elements out of the way before one can reach the bulbs. As indicated in the pictures above the main headlight bulb is a halogen bulb (and the high beam one too) and has a wider/thicker connector whereas the side lamp is a smaller regular bulb. The oritentation of the side lamp bulb is kind of up right whereas main headlight is horizontal. Turning the connector assembly quarter of a turn removes them from the slot.
